Looking into the eye of the camera and breaking the fourth wall can be transformative. It creates a unique moment and intimate connection between the subject and the camera and from the photo to the viewer. Staring into the iris of camera is nearly synonymous with staring into another person’s eye and in turn being vulnerable enough to allow someone else to look into your own.
